Ruth Watson-Utley is the Founder and President of M.Z.O. Community Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to safe, affordable housing and supportive services for individuals and families seeking stability and a fresh start.
With more than 20 years of experience in real estate, property management, housing, community development, and business leadership, Ruth has built her career around creating opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and neighborhoods. Her experience includes residential real estate, housing management, affordable housing initiatives, nonprofit leadership, and program development.
Driven by a passion for service, Ruth founded M.Z.O. Community Development Corporation to address the growing need for supportive housing and community-based resources for veterans, justice-involved individuals returning to the community, low-income families, seniors, and individuals experiencing housing instability. Her vision is to provide more than housing by connecting participants with the tools, resources, and support needed to achieve long-term independence and self-sufficiency.
Under Ruth's leadership, M.Z.O. CDC is committed to developing innovative housing programs that combine stable housing with case management, employment and workforce development resources, financial literacy, life-skills education, community partnerships, and referral services. She believes that safe housing is the foundation for personal growth, economic mobility, and stronger communities.
In addition to leading the organization's overall strategy and operations, Ruth oversees housing development initiatives, grant and funding opportunities, community partnerships, and organizational growth. While providing leadership across all service areas, her primary focus is expanding M.Z.O. CDC's impact throughout New Jersey and Texas, while supporting strategic growth initiatives in Georgia, Illinois, and other communities.
Ruth's leadership philosophy is centered on collaboration, integrity, compassion, and community empowerment. She is committed to building partnerships that create sustainable solutions and expand opportunities for individuals and families to rebuild their lives with dignity, hope, and confidence.
